LA MUJER EN EL ÁMBITO UNIVERSITARIO / WOMEN IN THE UNIVERSITY SYSTEM

Abstract

The aim of the present paper is to describe and analyze the professional activity of women in the university system. An analysis of this sector of population will be performed in order to determine their position in both, figures and percentages, for those working in Spanish universities. Finally, the study focuses in female faculty members by bringing data related to their distribution by Autonomous Communities, positions, age range, areas of knowledge, difficulties and leadership patterns, as well as their contribution to their Institution’s development in directing and managing the different areas of the universities.
