Species of genus Cornus L. in Eurasia and North America: introduction, use, selection, the perspectives of cultivation

Abstract

The history of introduction and use of the species of Cornus L. as ornamental, officinal and fruit plants has been treated. The condition and perspectives of selection of Cornus mas in Eurasia and North America have been analyzed. The results of the selection work with this species in Ukraine are presented. Modern natural and cultural habitats of Cornus mas are described, as well as the conditions needed for its successful cultivation.
