Outils statistiques, outils d’analyse : les nomenclatures socioprofessionnelles et les classes sociales en Europe et au Brésil

Abstract

This article aims both to give practical information on the use and limitations of socio-professional nomenclatures in Brazil (and France) and to provide a reflective analysis of the reasons behind the low usage – or decline – of these tools in both countries. To do so, having outlined some problems relating to the visibility and comparability of these nomenclatures, we will look first of all at the changes they have gone through recently in Europe and, secondly, at the implementation and modernization of professional nomenclatures in Brazilian statistics.
