This study presents the case of Agustín de Arpide, a silversmith master from the Basque country, active in the city of Lima from 1803 to 1821. He received commissions from civil and ecclesiastical clients, which bring his professional career closer to his development into the local silversmithing industry. In this sense, the active collaboration with his fellow countryman, the priest Matías Maestro, who was in charge of the designs, led him to make important monstrances in a classicist style. For this reason, we will analyze the Arpide's itinerary into the local work and the monstrance, currently preserved in the Cathedral of Lima (Peru), as part of his production.
