This text brings an interview with PhD. Marcelo Brito Carneiro Leão during the event "Journeys of Education in Science and Mathematics", held in 2017 by the Postgraduate Studies in Science, Technology and Learning at Federal University of Technology - Paraná (UTFPR). In this interview the teacher discusses about his professional trajectory, the panorama of the use of communication and information technologies in the pedagogical context, the role of the teacher in this process and some teaching strategies and methodologies allied to technology. The teacher highlighted that the insertion of ICT in the classroom does not mean the improvement of the teaching-learning process, nor the modernization of education. Regardless of the resource to be used in teaching practice, it is necessary to understand that the choice of didactic strategy is the most important. For the effective use of new technologies in science teaching, it is necessary to reformulate teacher training courses, which need to prepare teachers to mediate the teaching-learning process with the use of ICT.
