Iran is slowly regaining its place in the global economy and politics. This renaissance reveals new dynamics and blockages whose analysis cannot be based on mere continuity, and ignoring the profound break of nearly four decades of wanted or imposed isolation. Studies on real Iran are too rare. The works presented at the AGF meeting in October 2016 show a society, international relations and territories different from stereotypes. Many new studies are needed to know the complexity of the process of the renaissance of a country in the process of secularization after having experienced political Islam.
