N-(3,4-Dimethylphenyl)succinamic acid

Abstract

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C12H15NO3, contains two independent molecules. In both molecules, the conformations of the amide oxygen and the carbonyl O atom of the acid segment are anti to the adjacent CH2 groups. In the crystal, both molecules form inversion dimers linked by pairs of O—H...O hydrogen bonds and N—H...O interactions link the dimers into [100] chains.
