Thoracic meningioma: A unique case of early recurrence

Abstract

Recurrence of spinal meningiomas have been noted in the literature and risk factors including young age, higher pathologic grade, calcifications, subtotal resection, and ventral location. We present a case report of a 66 year female who developed a profound recurrence despite lacking the above factors. She underwent surgery with an expanded ventrolateral decompression and improved dramatically in her neurological status. Keywords: Spinal meningioma, Recurrence, Gross total resection
