L’Islam di Stato. La figura di Necmettin Erbakan nella Turchia contemporanea
Abstract
From its earliest years, one of the cornerstones of the Turkish Republic created by Atatürk had been the rejection of political Islam. Necmettin Erbakan, who was an astute and skilled politician, had tried for years to demolish this principle. He was the symbol of political Islam in Turkey. His parable has been a litmus test of the political and social events that affected the country, from the 1960s to the 21st century. His political stature made him an actor on the Turkish political stage, feared by the military system, which has always played a very important role in the protection of the state solidity. The purpose of this essay is to discover his figure and his political work, contextualizing it within the Turkish political system.
