Abstract
Evaluation of the tutor by students is a contentious topic. The competence of students to evaluate their tutors is questionable, especially where it could influence the career opportunities of the teacher. Acceptability may lie in the diagnostic and remedial function of such evaluation, to improve teaching and promote more effective learning, thus emphasis is placed on the mutual responsibility in the learning situation.
