Abstract
Results of an inquiry of University of Minho graduates converge in the sense of the inexistence of significant relation between parents educational level and a range of variables related to professional integration, such as access to a position, professional status or income. If empirical evidence suggests the inoperativeness of inherited education capital, as well as the levelling capacity of university experience, sociological prudence advises us, however, to consider alternative analysis which require broadening the focus of analysis to the whole school career of the inquired population.
