Reaction of Se(NSO)2 with TiCl4 yields the four-membered ring SeN2S (1) which was isolated as the adduct SeSN2 · TiCI4 (2). This adduct forms with AsF5 (molar ratio 1:1) in SO2 the ionic compound [SeS3N5]?[AsF6]? showing a cage structure for the cation (3). The covalent isomer (4b) of the ionic [ClSe2N2S]?Cl2 (4a) is obtained from Se(NSO)2 and POCl3. Lithium bis(trimethylsilyl)amid reacted with Se2Cl2 (molar ratio 2:1) to give the bis(disilylamido)-derivatives of Sex, x = 1,2. The monoselenium derivative (5a) forms with SeCl4 in good yields explosive Se4N4 and with SCl2 a salt {SeS2N2Cl}2 (6) of unknown structure.
