Connel y el concepto de masculinidades hegemónicas: notas críticas desde la obra de Pierre Bourdieu The concept of hegemonic masculinity: critical notes from the work of Pierre Bourdieu

Abstract

Sin intención de agotar la amplia bibliografía sobre sexo y género producto de las últimas décadas, pretendemos solamente limitarnos a subrayar algunos aspectos de la obra de Connell Gender and Power: Society, the Person and Sexual Politics (1987), especialmente aquellos que hacen a la relación entre género, práctica y estructura social. Para ello pondremos en diálogo a Connell con otro autor que imprimió posiciones provocativas y cuestionadoras con relación a este trípode conceptual: género, estructura y práctica social. El diálogo será de carácter crítico y tenso entre ambos autores. Por último, el artículo esboza una forma de entender el ser hombre a partir de lo que hemos denominado estrategias de masculinización.Without intending to exhaust the extensive literature on sex and gender product of recent decades, we intend to limit ourselves only to highlight certain aspects of Connell's work "Gender and Power. Society, the Person and Sexual Politics" (1987), especially those that make the relationship between gender, practice and social structure. In this work we will put Connel in dialogue with another author, Pierre Bourdieu, who printed provocative positions with respect to this conceptual tripod: gender, social structure and practice. The dialogue will be critical and tense between the two authors. Finally, the article outlines a way of understanding the human being from what we have called masculinization strategies.
