Abstract

This article analizes the problem of limits in the practice of violence as a mechanism of African slaves' control and correction, during the colonial eighteenth century in Chile. Despite the existence of numerous laws regulating these relations in the Hispanic world, laws that slaves sought to use to their benefit and that masters tried to circumvent.
