Musical pedagogy has deep historical traditions and is a dynamically developing branch of knowledge. The historical context allows you to see all the features and complexities of the “difficult historical path” of vocational training for a vocalist. Purpose. The purpose of this study is to find the sources and determinants of modern vocational training for vocalists. Results. The evolution of vocal pedagogy took place in the conditions of finding a balance between the emotional and artistic and virtuoso-technical components of vocal art, which was clearly manifested in the creation of different musical styles. Among the main trends of modern music pedagogy, there are: general theoretical bases for training vocalists; the content of vocational training for vocalists; pedagogical means of vocational training of vocalists; psychological training of vocalists.The Russian vocal school in the history of the development of vocal pedagogy appears as the school mostly oriented towards the search for unity and harmonization of the musical-technical and emotional-figurative aspects of performance.
