Un Syrien de l’armée de Mauretania Caesariensis et sa famille

Abstract

The article discusses the name and the origin of the recipient of a recently published so-called military diploma, of his family members and finally the history of his unit, the ala Gemina Sebastena, aspects neglected in the editio princeps. This provides important results on the history of the garrison of the province of Mauretania Caesariensis and the command of Q. Marcius Turbo in the Jewish and Moorish revolts under Trajan and Hadrian respectively.
