Federalisme i/o catalanisme
Abstract
After the War of Succession, from 1714, Spain was characterized by its politically centralized system and to promote the cultural uniformity, as much during the absolutist monarchy and later, with the establishment of liberalism. In Catalonia, however, there was widespread opposition to centralism. This article explains how a tendency of Catalan federalism was linked to the initial politicization of catalanism and its evolution until it was transformed into an explicitly separatist movement, following the sentence of the Constitutional Court of June 28, 2010, which substantially modified the 2006 Statute of Autonomy.
