Abstract

This article deals with the development of socialist thinking in Maranhão. It aims to rescue the moment when workers took their first steps in the organization of movements, press organisms, solidarity associations and political actions. Focused our study on three important leaders: the worker Ramos Villar, the peasant religious leader and the doctor and deputy Tarquinio Lopes Filho.
