Energy management system for small scale hybrid wind solar battery based microgrid
Abstract
Microgrids, comprised of distributed generation, loads, and storage, are gaining traction due to their efficiency. However, integrating variable renewables like wind and solar necessitates smart management systems. This paper proposes an efficient strategy for a small-scale hybrid microgrid incorporating wind, solar, and battery storage. The system utilizes power converters, control algorithms, and controllers to seamlessly integrate these renewables with battery storage. Researchers are actively developing control strategies to address this complexity. This research simulates a wind-solar-battery microgrid to analyze its performance under various conditions. The simulation focuses on managing energy flow in both isolated (standalone) and grid-connected modes. Additionally, it explores controlling the battery’s state of charge (SOC).This approach ensures balanced power flow and reliable microgrid operation. The effectiveness of the control algorithms is validated through simulations using Matlab.
