Uji Aktivitas Antioksidan Ekstrak Etanol Daun Benalu Jeruk (Dendrophthoe glabrescens (Blakely) Barlow) dengan Metode DPPH (2,2-Diphenyl-1-Picrylhydrazyl)
Abstract
Benalu is a parasitic plant that requires a host to live and grow. Benalu leaves have long been used for the treatment of several diseases such as coughs, cancer, inflammation, bacterial infections and wounds. The clinical effects produced by benalu leaves are thought to be due to the content of amino acids, carbohydrates, saponins, tannins, and flavonoids which are able to neutralize the influence of toxic ingredients. The purpose of this study was to determine the antioxidant activity of the benalu leaf extract (Dendrophthoe glabrescens (Blakely) Barlow). This research uses quantitative research with a laboratory experimental approach. Simplicia of benalu leaves were extracted using a variety of solvents, namely 70%, 80%, and 96% ethanol. The antioxidant activity of the extract was tested using the DPPH (2,2-Diphenyl-1-Picrylhydrazyl) method with 3 replicates to see the ability of the sample to inhibit free radicals (IC50). The data obtained were then analyzed quantitatively. After calculating IC50, it is known that the extract of benalu leaves has very strong antioxidant activity. The IC50 results obtained by 70%, 80%, and 96% ethanol solvent variations are 6.782 ppm; 11.965 ppm; and 6.544, respectively.
