From the hypothesis of Ricardo Piglia that incites to read the work of Borges as a dialogue with the two traditions since the nineteenth century have defined the Argentinian culture, this paper aims to analyze the perspective of Borges about Peronism. In his classic stories related to specific historical events of Peronism (“La fiesta del monstruo” y “El simulacro”) the two main ideas that liberal intellectuals had on this political movement appear: the first idea holds Peronism is unreal; the second one sees the Peronism as the incarnation of barbarism. However, the reading of some Borges texts reveals unexpected aspects which enable to problematize this interpretation of Peronism.
