There exists some variety in terms of social background among the Spanish women playwrights of the eighteenth-century whose texts are known and preserved. In this paper we approach the works of these women who were actresses as well as playwrights. It is our aim to elucidate the possible influence these intersections could have exerted on their dramatical production. In order to achieve our goal we analyse the works Las mujeres solas, by Mariana Cabañas, and La visita del hospital del mundo, by Mariana Alcázar. We also include a previous study about the social and cultural context surrounding the professional development of both female authors.
