Pharmacoeconomical aspects of the treatment of arterial hypertension in patients with type II diabetes mellitus in outpatient department
Abstract
Diabetes mellitus II (DMII) is a chronic disease that has a major social impact. A substantial proportion of the costs of diabetes treatment arises from treating long-term complications, particularly cardiovascular disease (CVD). Arterial hypertension increases risk of CVD in patients with DMII. The objective of this study was to estimate costs of managing arterial hypertension in patients with DMII in different outpatient departments. It was detected higher level of costs of medical care in general practice department, but provide maximal benefit to the treatment of arterial hypertension in such group in specialized agency.
