Caring for those who care. The working group as a resource
Abstract
In caring professions, team work is considered pivotal for an effective and efficient practice. The group can be intended as a milieu that empowers each member, bringing him/her to higher achievements. It expands one’s own subjectivity that, intercepting and combining tacitly with others’ subjectivity, leads to a plural identity. Reserving a specific attention to the inter-professional group is therefore considered not only functional to a more effective practice, but, more fundamentally, a right (both of patients and healthcare professionals) to work more properly, with evident implications primarily from the ethical/human perspective in addition to the practical/professional one. Paying attention to the team requires commitment to dedicate specific and diverse spaces to reflection, that allow the group members’ bodies, minds and emotions to express themselves, letting them become aware, and creatively renewing the group’s ways of interaction and collaboration.
