La crisalida (1984) by Nisa Forti and La tierra incomparable (1994) by Antonio Dal Masetto are works that, inspired by the authors’ personal experiences, address different aspects of the migratory process. Starting from the hypothesis that it is in the first return that the subject obtains tangible evidence of the losses suffered –both due to the change of residence and the passage of time–, the general objective of this article will be to analyze the experiences of the migrant during the instance of his return to his native land, specifically, the metamorphoses that took place not only in space and in her perception, but also in the interpersonal bonds that she seeks to reestablish. It is through the study of these reunion scenes with relatives, acquaintances and / or friends, who remained in the country of origin, that we will indicate how these contacts function as reminders of an impossibility: returning to the state of affairs left before the departure. At the same time, we will try to evaluate –through the imaginary deployed around “those who left” and “those who stayed” - how the migratory processes affected not only those who left but also those who remained in the country of origin.
