Taxonomic notes on genus Centaurea L. (Asteraceae) in the Iberian Peninsula. I. C. cordubensis Font Quer, C. bethurica E. López & Devesa, sp. Nov., and C. schousboei Lange

Abstract

This paper is part of a periodical series based in a previous taxonomic study dealing with Centaurea paniculata L. group (Centaurea L. sect. Centaurea) in the Iberian Peninsula. Firstly, we present a dichotomous key of this group besides some commentaries about three endemic species to south-west Iberian Peninsula. C. bethurica is described as new and its affinities with C. cordubensis are commented. On the other hand, C. schousboei is lectotypified and some commentaries about its variability and distribution, as well as the taxonomic value of a previously described subspecies are shown.
