Hypoglycemia associated with diabetes mellitus results in numerous types of microvascular dysfunction and increases cardiovascular risk in patients with DM of all ages. The glycemic control improvement results in substantially decreased risk of any diabetes-associated outcomes or microvascular complications. The most important parameters for type 1 and type 2 DM control used by clinicians are the components of the indicators “classic triad”: glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), postprandial glucose (PPG), fasting plasma glucose (FPG). It appears increasingly necessary to teach diabetic patients to self-monitor blood glucose in order to achieve the target ranges of these indicators. In that regard, the patients have been helped by modern technologies.
