CULTURAL-PSYCHOLOGICAL APPROACH TO THE STUDY OF RUSSIAN NATIONAL CHARACTER
Abstract
The article examines the problem of national character research in the humanities from Modern times to the present and analyzes the various approaches used by scientists to solve it. Based on the work carried out, the authors formulate a cultural and psychological approach to the study of national character and apply it to identify and disclose the basic features of the Russian national character Purpose: to give an idea of the national character as an object of research in the humanities, to conduct a comparative analysis of various approaches to the knowledge of national character, to highlight the cultural and psychological approach and with its help to determine the main features of the Russian national character. Method and methodology of the work: the method of comparative analysis and the phenomenological method were used. Results: in the process of analyzing the discourse on national character in the humanities, the authors conclude that the main problem in revealing the phenomenon of national character is related to the subjective nature of the object of study itself, which leads to the emergence of many approaches, each of which is not able to give a complete and exhaustive idea of the object of study. Modern psychology also faces a similar problem in an effort to understand the character of a person. In psychology, an approach was identified that partially managed to overcome this problem. In it, the character is considered through the relationship of a person to various aspects of reality, while the human subject itself is placed "outside the brackets". The authors formulate a cultural and psychological approach combining a psychological approach with a cultural one and using it explore the basic features of the Russian national character. Scope of the results: The results obtained can be applied in the study of modern social and cultural processes related to national identification and used in the formation of the content of humanitarian courses in higher and secondary education.
