Eighth Joint National Committee: Other Controversial Issues
Abstract
The Eighth Joint National Committee has generated extensive discussion. We recently analyzed the unfair exclusion of beta-blockers as first-line therapy for uncomplicated hypertension in this journal. Now, we will briefly present some considerations on other controversial issues of the Eighth Joint National Committee, such as the methodology used and the increased therapeutic goal in patients over 60 years old.
