The guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in 2010 update those published in 2005 and maintain the established 5-year cycle of guideline changes. The new guidelines, based on scientific proofs and practical experiences, are comprehensible and easy to use in everyday practice. The aim of their implementation is to introduce uniform criteria in diagnostics and treatment of acute cardiac arrest, which would increase the number of successful CPRs and decrease the occurrence of coma vigil and neurological invalidity. Justification is clear - medical, legal and economic. The idea of the paper is to show the new algorithms for CPR for the resuscitation of adults and children, as well as to highlight the main guideline changes since 2005.
