The creative genius of Joan de Joanes throughout some masterpieces
Abstract
We present a series of masterpieces by Joan de Joanes made throughout his life, demonstrating that much of his artistic inspiration, far from taking shape after a trip to Italy, or perhaps Flanders, took place in Valencia. The city provided all the elements necessary to develop a powerful, syncretic and personal style that made him one of the most important Spanish painters of the sixteenth century.
