The article addresses the issue of types and conditions of borders and transgression (in) education. The concept of “borderline” can be considered as an area that contains both sensory potential (many different interpretations) and heuristic (new interpretations). The border closes and separates but also opens a new perspective of experience. According to the concept of Józef Kozielecki (1987, 2001, 2007) man as a homo transgressivus has the ability to cross material, social and symbolic boundaries. Transgression is associated with the implementation of projected visions of reality, potential states of affairs and the concept of the Self. I analyze borders and transgressions in the perspective of humanities education, cultural identity “borderlander”, in relation to new educational paradigms, Creative Adaptation and personal transgression (self-transgression.
