Tumores cardiacos: registro de 15 años de experiencia en la Clínica Cardiovascular Santa María Cardiac tumors: report of 15 years of experience in the Santa Maria Cardiovascular Clinic
Abstract
Los tumores malignos y benignos del corazón, son poco comunes, si bien los tumores secundarios o metastásicos son más frecuentes que los primarios. En este artículo se muestra el registro de 15 años de los pacientes con tumores cardiacos que ingresaron a la Clínica Cardiovascular Santa María de Medellín, entre 1989 a 2004, en quienes se obtuvo un diagnóstico histológico. Se describe la distribución anatómica, por edades, tipo histológico y síntomas referidos.Malignant and benign primary tumors of the heart are rare. Secondary or metastatic tumors of the heart are several times more common than the primary ones. In this study we report the register of the patients with heart tumors that were admitted to the Santa María Cardiovascular Clinic between 1989 and 2004, in whom a histological diagnosis was achieved. The anatomical distribution according to age, as well as the histological type and the referred symptoms are described.
