Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM)
Abstract
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HOCM) is an autosomal dominant inherited disease of myocardium. We have presented a case of an asymptomatic female patient with HOCM discovered during family screening for HOCM. At the first examination she had all criteria for HOCM, including echocardiography. The next examination was performed two years later and clear echocardiography progression of disease was found. Pathological findings, including increasing interventricular septum thickness, mitral insufficiency, left ventricular outflow obstruction gradient and narrowing of LV, encouraged us to start the drug the treatment, although patient was clinicaly asymptomatic.
