The many contextual studies on ARS production sites, particularly in central Tunisia, have enormously increased our ability to date stratified deposits as well as to trace different patterns in trade relationships within a wide Mediterranean context. This is largely made possible through the classification of fabrics, which is also the tool which lies behind the argument of this paper. The detailed analysis of two ARS table vessels from Dyrrachium/Durrës (Albania) has revealed a yet hidden element in the production history of the central Tunisian pottery-making centre at Djilma.
