The Amazon river: source of diversity

Abstract

This article provides a brief presentation of the archaeology of the areas adjacent to the main course of the Amazon river in Brazil, as well as of some of its tributaries. The article presents the better-known archaeological technological traditions of the area and shows how the ancient history of the Amazon is characterized by its large cultural diversity.
