For a long time, sociology has scorned or forgotten the importance that the discipline’s founders accorded [the] law. Using an analytical framework described as dual legality, where a law acting through the social is opposed to the law as “Reason,” the attempt is made to restore law as analyzer of transformations in the social and political regulation of contemporary societies. The testing of this model results ultimately in increased generalization: a quest to redefine the conditions of legality’s construction, a questioning of the general analytical frameworks of societal regulation, notably using the paradigmatic example of domination.
