This article seeks to analyse the presence of motifs from the Argonautica epic in two fragments of Epimenides (PEG58-58 F = FGrHist457 FF 11-12), comparing them especially with the Argonauticaof Apollonius of Rhodes. In one case the affinity with the work of Eumelus of Corinth is obvious, in the other Epimenides may have used an independent saga on Phrixus and his sons. His interest in the Argonautica epic in general was probably due to the intersection of this epic narrative with the Island of Crete.
