Combining means of transport and imobilization with multiple trauma

Abstract

In Republic of Serbia, organisation of Emergency Medical Services is very specific. Consequently, all activities about saving victims we are doing in scene, before transportation. At transport, we're doing just necessary activities. We have problem with victims with multiply fractures. This immobilisation is long and difficult. We have had specific case: motocyclist with opened left leg fracture, left arm fracture and first stadium of shock. For saving time, we have made decision: combine scoop strecher for temporary use and vacuum mattress for definitive immobilisation and transportation. In this way we have fast and adequately took care for victim, and transported him to the general hospital transported even though the scene was located about 18 km in good general condition.
