Throughout Spanish history, satire has been often present. Working as a driving force of both an informational and a communicational vehicle. It has not only provided tools for understanding reality, but it has also generated, at times, its own narratives. It has been at times of crisis where waves of creativity have been put in use for the interpretation of social processes, the generation of subjectivity and also, quite frequently, an activism that far from organizational frameworks and rigid structures, has been at the front line, making social cracks visible. The purpose of this paper is to address the impact of satire in a country beaten by the crisis since 2008. This is done through a comparative perspective, which brings our attention to the previous great period of crisis in Spain: the late Francoism and the early years of the transition.
