Mechanisms and regulation of antimicrobial resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Abstract
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a dangerous opportunistic pathogen. One of the most negative clinically significant features of P. aeruginosa is associated with the rapid acquisition of antimicrobial resistance. This review provides an analysis of current literature data on genetic mechanisms of resistance of P. aeruginosa to antibiotics. Acquisition of resistance and its regulation are considered. Understanding of resistance mechanisms and regulation is an important basis to ensure appropriate antimicrobial therapy and infection control measures in patients with pseudomonas infections.
