Aphanamixis polystachya is a medicinal plant of the Meliaceae family and has a rich history of traditional medicinal use. It is native to Southeast Asia and is commonly found in tropical regions. In this review, we have focused on the bioactive compounds, therapeutic applications, and pharmacological activities of this plant. Aphanamixis polystachya, commonly known as “Rohituka”, contains many bioactive compounds including rohitukine, amooranin, aphamines, aphanamoxenes, aphananoid, aphananin and others that can be used to treat various ailments. Some pharmacological activities of this plant are highly significant, such as anticancer, antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and hepatoprotective activities. This plant also shows anthelmintic, laxative, CNS depressant, thrombolytic, analgesic, and antimalarial activities. Moreover, A. polystachya has insecticidal, antifeedant, repellent, and allelopathic properties. However, A. polystachya plant extract has side effects on blood cells at a high dose, which is also discussed in this article.
