We have developed a galactosyl amino-naphthalimide based graphene oxide nanocomposite FN@GO that uses a unique mechanism: Förster resonance energy-transfer (FRET) controlled by interaction between ligands and receptors. The fluorophore stacking to surface of graphene oxide leads to a fluorescence quenching due to FRET. The galactosyl moiety of dye is a glycoligand that selectively recognized by the specific glycoprotein receptors on the surface of liver cancer cells. Therefore, our nanocomposite can provide a concise method to selectively probe HepG2 in cellular environment.
