ZNACZENIE MYŚLI JOSEPHA DANIELA UNWINA W KONTEKŚCIE WSPÓŁCZESNEJ WOJNY KULTUROWE

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to present J.D. Unwin's academic achievements in the context of contemporary culture war and the issues of the Western civilization’s disintegration. Together with his biography, Unwin’s academic achievements have been presented, referring particularly to his most popular work - Sex and culture. In his work, Unwin makes an attempt to verify Freud’s claim that civilization is a by-product of repressed sexuality. Due to its impartial nature, J.D. Unwin’s research is very important in the context of the culture war. The author reflects on the current Western civilization’s culture position - according to Unwin's concept, over time, Western society will lose its importance in global competition. Based on this information, the need of building national strength was emphasized. Taking J.D. Unwin’s research results into account can be helpful in creating strong foundations for a society capable of reestablishing Western civilization’s importance in shaping global governance.
