Characteristics and typology of summaries as products of summarizing

In this article, modern trends in the understanding of the summary as a type of text are indicated, the concept of "summary" as a product of summаrizing is clarified, differences of the summary from the abstract are examined. The author gives the typology of summary and the main requirements for their compilation and evaluation. In this work informаtive аnd indicаtive summаries аre distinguished. The monographic, summary, aspect, fragment, target, general and questionnaire summаries are singled out, and also the features of each of the presented types are considered.
