A new species of Oncotympana Stål, 1870 (Hemiptera: Cicadidae: Oncotympanini) from Negros, Philippines

Abstract

A new species, Oncotympana capitulum sp. nov., is described from Negros, an island in the Philippines. This new species belongs to the tribe Oncotympanini Ishihara, 1961 of the family Cicadidae Latreille, 1802 (Insecta: Hemiptera). This new species is closely allied to Oncotympana viridicincta Stål, 1870 but has a narrower head and differently shaped marks on the mesonotum. A key to the species of Oncotympana Stål, 1870 is provided.
