Émergence d’un opéra national en Roumanie (1919-1939)

Abstract

This article analyses the creation of a Romanian national opera in the Interwar period following the unification of Transylvania with Romania after the first world war. The organization of the Romanian opera was based on three principals: the establishment of a Romanian opera company that would integrate opera singers from all the Romanian regions and reduce to a minimum the presence of the foreign singers, a Romanian repertoire and a foreign repertoire performed in Romanian, and the spread of Romanian opera composers in the world.
