Thermal, optical, and gamma/ neutron radiation absorption of PbO - P2O5 –SiO2 - Na2O - Fe2O3 glasses
Abstract
The thermal, optical, and gamma/neutron radiation of PbO - P2O5 –SiO2 - Na2O- F2O3 glasses are all evaluated in this article. The glass system have an amorphous status was established by XRD. When Fe2O3 content is increased from 0 to 2 mol%, Tg rises from 455 to 471 °C, Tc increment from 555 to 579 °C, and Tp increment 580–601 °C. This observation because the single bond enthalpy of Fe-O (343.3 kJ mol−1) is higher than that of Na-O (37 kJ mol−1), this increase occurs. Optical bandgap Eopt.dir, and Eopt.indir increases, while (Eu) reduces. The glass composition G 5 was observed to be higher than other glass samples in terms of gamma and neutron radiation protection.
