The Genesis of the Concept of Sustainable Development: Implications For Romania

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to make a synthetic presentation of the genesis of the concept of sustainable development (SD) and to highlight the directions of action for Romania for the implementation of the EU 2030 Agenda for SD. The UN General Assembly adopted the Report of the World Commission on Environment and Development, “Our Common Future. From One Earth to One World ”(1987). "Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs".
