Environmental education is a long learning process, becoming, for that reason,a philosophy of life. It provides complete education of individuals, enabling them to find solutions for the current environmental crisis. The research on environmental perception (perceiving the environment in which one is inserted) was carried out with students from 6th to 9th grades at Maximus School, a private institution, in the city of Ouro Fino, State of Minas Gerais. Data collection was conducted through a questionnaire of 20 questions developed by the Environmental Perception Study Group (NEPA). The introduction of environmental education in related topics in the different disciplines showed some efficiency on the exacerbation of environmental perception of the students, but the superficiality of how the environmental issues are addressed is visible. Therefore, it is necessary that educational institutions explore environmental issues in most school disciplines.
